An award-winning plant-based system for healthier schools
In the city of Milan, more than a thousand schools are exposed to nitrogen dioxide concentrations higher than the legal limit of 40 μg/m³, which is already 4 times the WHO’s recommendation. The Stelo System includes innovations such as Stelo Air, a modular plant-based indoor air purifier that is mounted on classrooms walls. It can efficiently clean an average-sized classroom (65 m²) air in 15 minutes with almost no electricity.
Designed with public indoor spaces in mind, it aims to create a safe environment for children to grow and learn about nature, also thanks to the eco-curriculum to instil awareness of environmental standards.
Stelo Air has been awarded the iF Design Student Award 2024, one of the most important and prestigious design awards in the world.
